interactive flash

Crash test dumbass
This Flash vector animation is about making a crash test dummy crash into a variety of dangerous and funny objects. You can choose from three camera angles that focus where he starts from and where he crashes. It’s also possible to choose between approximately nine different obstacles to crash into. The animation has a lot of sound effects, these are fitting, and include explosions, smashing effects and some speech, as well as a choice of music.  I found it to be very humorous and quirky, the sound effects do their job very well and the multiple camera angles add a bit more incentive to watch the crashes again. The voice acting is quite funny, but does get annoying and tiresome.

The chips monsters
This is another vectorised Flash dress-up game based on Mr Potato Head, which is meant to be a bit silly, but the sound effects are extremely annoying; the bagpipes nearly gave me a headache. The style is quite dull, and it appears that the animator couldn’t be bothered to make it look nice. It’s amusing for five minutes, but quickly becomes boring due to the lack of items to place on the potato’s head.

Infinite Oz
This animation is a promotion for a television program, called Tin Man. It’s a Flash site and the main feature is an infinite tunnel where you fly back and forth through paintings as it shows scenes from the series. It gives you a slider so you can go either forwards or backwards, and because it’s a Flash site it gives you other options, such as turning the sound on or off, and has buttons to click that link to other pages. I thought it was very creative and artistic. It’s made me want to watch the program to see what it’s about – it’s succeeded in what it was intended to do. This is a very good example of the  use of vector graphics in a website, as it runs very smoothly and quickly without becoming pixilated or distorted.
